You might want to consider getting Survival Coins from the iTunes app store. This free app will help you compare the silver content (in troy ounces) between different junk silver coins

Nice Post, I Much prefer silver as an investment compared to gold at the moment. Fine silver coins bars and rounds are nice, But I much prefer the 90% coins & the 50% British coins. They are much more interesting and the premiums are low too.

Even if the price of precious metals did drop , you could simply buy some more to average the total price out . There are bound to be fluctuations in the market .

The gubmint "cops" might be able to "confiscate" your financial "vehicle" as long as it still languishes in the limbo of a retirement account, but after you cash it out after age 59.5 (no early withdrawal penalties) and put it in your regular BANK account, they can't touch it. So the trick is lasting until age 59.5 - that's all.

There is nothing like looking at our government from another country to really see how things are. Watching the news from Costa Rica was an eye opening experience. We came back and bought more silver!

The other day I read that if we were to gather up every dollar ever printed we still wouldn't have enough to pay off the national debt. The dollar has no value. Silver is the way to go if you want a future.

I've mentioned this to a few people and they say it simply won't ever happen and that the contract that people agreed to when starting their 401K and other retirement savings precludes this. However, since the government can simply seize property and this is a nice big chunk out there, I certainly do believe this CAN happen. So aiming to save for one's own future separately from everyone and everywhere else is a wise habit to get into!

The other possibility is the government taking a one time "dip" tax on retirement savings accounts, both IRA and 401K holdings, of accounts over a certain size. (They will say "millionaires", but the amount optioned for taxation will start at a few hundred thousand in assets). In the feds mind, money sitting in a retirement account is not "doing anything" thus they need to commandeer it for the public's entitlement programs.
